CollegeVis | Seeing the Big Picture
Students are exposed to an overwhelming amount of information during their college and career search journey, which can lead to stress and uncertainty. Therefore, data visualizations that efficiently display fields of study, specifc majors, and colleges can be useful tools to simplify the college search process and provide students a more comprehensive idea of their prospective career.
Visualization
Current college and career search methods require students to search through many resources and college websites, so CollegeVis aims at becoming a centralized exploration platform. Using Tableau software, I created a visualization system that filters the majors offered at UC campuses across California. College major data was collected from the UC website while institutional information regarding tution, location, etc. was sourced from the Education Data Portal. This system facilitates college exploration by allowing students to explore potential UC campuses based on major catogories that peak their interest.
